HTX REACH program to improve the ability of Ontario's healthcare system to procure and adopt innovative medical technologies
In March 2015, the Health Technology Exchange (HTX) and the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services established the new REACH program (Resources of Evaluating, Adopting and Capitalizing on Innovative Healthcare Technology).
What is REACH?
REACH aims to demonstrate new ways to evaluate, procure, and adopt beneficial medical technologies that address high-priority health system problems. Projects will focus on later-stage medical technologies that have good evidence of value and strong potential to reduce existing barriers by streamlining the procurement process. REACH will provide healthcare project leaders with matching grant funding ranging from $300,000 to $1,000,000 for each of the anticipated 10-12 projects.
Ontario workshops highlighting REACH program
HTX is planing several workshops across Ontario to inform innovators and healthcare providers about:
- Understanding the REACH Program and how to prepare a submission for funding
- Understanding new models of innovation procurement aimed at early engagement of key stakeholders across the continuum of the procurement cycle
- Creating Outcome Based Specifications (OBS) that support better aligned procurement of technologies/services meeting particular outcomes of relevance to healthcare delivery organization(s)
- Understanding relevant Ontario health system priorities and better aligning innovative technologies with receptor sites
